Alexei started to work in the field of animation in 1987 as a self-taught animator and background artist. Later, in 1994 he graduated from the Advanced Institute for Scriptwriters and Film Directors in Moscow.
His films are the participants and winners of many international festivals. For instance, his film "Gagarin" is a winner of Cannes 1995 (Golden Palm in short film competition), Annecy 1995 (Jury Prize, Prize For the Funniest Film), Hiroshima 1996 (Jury Prize), Ottawa 1996 (Special Prize for Animation and Gordon Bruce Award for Humour). Besides, "Gagarin" was nominated for Oscar in 1996.
Alexei moved to Canada in 1998. Since then he has been working as a Director and Animator for the companies such as Studio Pascal Blais, Cinar Animation, Sardine Productions and others. His works include TV commercials for the Lou-Lou magazine, Maxi supermarket, Delmar International, TV series "Leon" and "The Little Earth Charter".
